My fondest memory of that week was from one of our city’s chaperones

Their actual title escapes me. Anyway, older gentleman and a kind soul. The last night we gathered together as a city he spoke to us. Told us how special the week had been for him and then shared the news that he had just recently lost his wife. He stated that he was having to get accustomed to being alone and the week with us was a godsend. He then broke down and cried. That memory has always stayed with me.
