In my experience, the damage is already done by calling to inquire.
You'd know better than I do Stork, but it seems like simply making a phone call results in getting flagged as a potential "problem". I once got dropped by Allstate because my dad (same first and last names) had called his insurance company to inquire about whether some damage would be covered under his policy, and somehow Allstate confused me with him. I had just switched from Nationwide to Allstate within the previous 30 days, and they must have some sort of probationary period, because they saw this activity in whatever database that tracks claims, thought it was me, and sent me a cancellation notice. I called to find out what in the heck happened, and when the guy who helped me finally figured out the cause, he was very apologetic and offered to reinstate my coverage. I told him I appreciated his help, but that I had zero interest in doing business with Allstate ever again.
