Thank you History Channel or Smithsonian Channel...

...or one of the other similar channels who did a show on the Nazi occupation of the Channel Islands. Pretty interesting show how the locals interacted with the German occupiers. For the most part, they weren't "conscripted" to build the island defenses. The Germans brought in slave labor for those jobs.
