I'm a Marriott guy so I end up at the Springhill Suites 37th St just west.

of 5th Avenue, so yeah Penn Station is 33rd - 34th street between 7th and 8th Marriott's have good beds, had some upgrades when went to the US Open last summer, and the Empire State building was square in the window (room was pretty much the same I guess.) Good location b/c I know where I'm at. Usually take a morning train which puts me at Moynihan around 10 or 11, grab a bagel and coffee on the way to the hotel at Liberty or best bagels and there's another one, again all on the way. may or may not get a room right away, that's at 4pm, but, I did this past summer. So, a few steps east you're on 5th, a few blocks west and you can take the diagonals up Broadway, usually you have to do a little bit of that to catch those ABC, 123 trains, 4 or 5 blocks from Central terminal to catch the 456 ...anyway you get the picture. ** Edited by `lag at 11/6/2025, 2:41:12 PM

It’s been some time since being on an Amtrak train… NE regional.

Big fan of AMTRAK! But the current version of the ACELA isn't worth it.

Yeah, the NE takes 3 hours for me to NYC, the Acela takes 2 1/2 ...

When I lived in CT, when I'd go to a VT game, it would be Amtrak to DC,

Amtrak is the only way to travel the NE Corridor. **
