A friend of mine used to be the Heinz ketchup product manager.
He said there aren't really that many real tomatoes left in the product. An engineer once came to him with a formulary recommendation that provided some benefits (I forget what they were) but would also eliminate the need for any tomatoes. My buddy declined, because he didn't want to go down in history as the product manager responsible for removing the last bit of tomatoes from Heinz ketchup.
