He is a top notch actor ....
he takes a lot of bad roles but whenever there is a proper story and character for him he nails it. Such as Leaving Las Vegas (won Best Actor), Adaptation (nominated for Oscar for best actor), Pig (nominated for Critics Choice awards best actor), Moonstruck (Golden Globes nominee), Dream Scenario (2024 Golden Gloves nominee), etc.
