was ahead of schedule on their engine program. They want to build their own and become a supplier. I guess the new 2026 regulations gives an outside team a chance to develop the new power unit, while current teams have to focus on both the new regs and making a better current engine. But yeah, it is a major challenge to build a competitive engine if you aren't actively in the sport.
