I love to bash Timmy, he provides lots of opportunity, but in this situation he deserves credit. He has provided students an opportunity to throw their tantrum, but did not allow it to escalate, nor was he jelly spined in his response. He not only thanked the police for their efforts and professionalism, he also condemned the way students treated the officers (something most pols seem to leave out of these statements), so good on him. He also laid out the efforts he has taken to communicate on this issue, including stating that he attempted to talk with masked protesters at the BOV meeting but was instead shouted down. While I would have liked them to step in faster and end the thing on Friday, I can see a reasonable approach of letting the toddlers scream and kick the floor. He gave them the chance to make the right choice and I'm sure some did, but then when it was obvious that many (82, 53 of which were students) were not going to do so, he did what needed to be done.
