Mine resisted at first, but I was able to close the deal with the following
- I will also still be working roughly 25 hours per week so not a big difference from her. I think she needs 30 or 32 to qualify for benefits.
- She wants to travel a lot in retirement and so do I. This arrangement will not only allow us to delay 401k withdrawals for a couple of years but will save us tens of thousands in healthcare costs over those two years.
- Neither of us would be good going from 60 mph to 0 mph suddenly. This will allow us to go from 60 to 40 and then make a decision after that. I may still work on a very part time basis after that just to stay somewhat busy and pay for any special trips we want to take.
Good luck!
