He was at one time the attorney of record for the Books, Strings & Things'

landlord in the Old Mill Bldg in the 'burg. John's name was often taken in vain for pressing too hard for rent increases. I worked at BS&T and was poised on random occasions to accidentally step on the toes of his over-polished black dress shoes when he came by to kick Tiny Tim Cratchit's crutches out. But I never did, so mum's the word.
