We had to almost fully change the fasteners on our attic steps in our
house before last after a prospective buyer, who was pregnant, claimed it was too dangerous for her to climb up there. Ignoring whether or not that was good for her anyway, we did all that, got the pull-down stairs all nice and tight, and then they passed on the deal.
In our new home, the attic pull down in the garage was installed backwards before the project manager noticed it. When they removed it and put it back in, the last section of steps that pulls down is unreachable if you're not at least 6'3'. Which I'm not. I have to get on my step ladder to open the attic hatch.
