GM donated a Cadillac LYRIQ to VT for an EV competition...
VT has a student run Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team (HEVT) in the college of engineering that has been in national Advanced Technology Vehicle Competitions for 30+ years, and the latest car they have been working on is their luxury EV. In the past they had a Blazer, Camaro, and others.
I'm not sure where GM or the industry is heading, but they have been very good to VT with donations. They also hire a bunch of VT engineers every year (so does Ford, Telsa, Rivian, etc.).
I do think the technology is improving every year, and I think the younger generation will adopt EVs faster and easier than us old guys. As the DC fast charging network expands and batteries improve, the range issues will decrease, and the EV performance is just so much better than the combustion engines.
