Mets outfielder Mookie Wilson hit a grounder down the first base line in what appeared to be a routine play that would end the World Series and give the Red Sox their first WS win in decades. Bill Buckner made an error, allowing the Mets to win game 6. The Mets then went on to win game 7, extending "the curse of the Bambino".
