Exactly. To me it's like buying a used phone, but way more expensive and

with mush less kickbacks from the Green Lobby. Rode in a nice UBER Tesla in Vegas & the driver said she just had to drive it 5 hours per week to get essentially a free car with all of her tax credits she was getting. It wasn't clear how that math worked, so I just took her for her word. I think it makes sense to buy one if you're going a lot of around town type of driving and you don't have extreme temps where the battery life becomes too variable.
