Agreed, it really feels like manufacturers are subsidizing EV production...

...production costs by jacking up the price tag on all of their non-EV offerings. And the consumer is part of the problem...up until recently, people were paying those ridiculous prices. This weekend I was talking about vehicle prices with a like-minded extended family member - we both own multiple older vehicles that we maintain mostly by ourselves, and we were joking about how we are gluttons for punishment, because we spend all of our time repairing vehicles. However, we both acknowledged that one of the main reasons we do that is because it is a huge financial "win" over the long haul. In my entire lifetime, I have purchased 4 vehicles, and I still own all of them to this day. Their combined purchase price is less than the cost of some trucks featured in the video in Bay Area's post. Crazy. I will continue driving my older vehicles for as long as I can get parts. No way am I going to pay the price for the modern crap that isn't made to be reliable and that I can't repair myself when it breaks down.

EDGEMAN 12/31/24 10:49 AM ET
China is producing the solar panels invented in the US bc we choose not to
