receive all expenses paid and a stipend for 7 yr program to get an MD degree and PHd in a research field. His undergrad degree was bioengineering and he did 2 yrs of tissue culture work at MD Anderson with high accolades. The interviewer flat out told him that the program didn’t like engineers. His comment was “ engineers focus on solutions to problems. We want people who ask questions”. Waitlisted but accepted to Med School. Ended up in initial class at VT Carillion where he got to scratch his research itch (@ my expense….sigh). Now a successful neurosurgeon.
