Here's an actual one I got after I ratted out slovenly customer service -
"Good morning, (PHNC),
Thank you for your email. I certainly apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused to you. I have forwarded your feedback to the proper parties and a member of management will contact you. Thank you for shopping at (vendor). Have a wonderful day!"
Could the respondent have been torn between being certain or uncertain? How was inconvenience "caused to" me? How could anyone not have a wonderful day after this?

It’s time for people to quit apologizing “for the inconvenience”.
