I'm sure you've seen the website at the link below, and I really don't know too much beyond that. Admissions keeps all of us (including department heads) basically in the complete dark with regard to undergraduate admissions. We can give them some targets, but they do what they want (and, to be fair, it's difficult from their end as well). From their link, and from everything we hear, "letters of recommendation, letters of continued interest, or personal visits will not affect our decision. We will use the information we already have to make a decision if space becomes available." I assume we have to take them at their word there. About the only thing I do know is that really depends by college/major. If, for example, Architecture hits their enrollment target, any superstar students on their wait list will get rejected, while other students with not as strong records might get off the wait list if their college has not hit their target yet. Last year we got some updates on yield, and then we were told in April that they were going to the waitlist, and then I think they went back at least one more time. At least for the College of Engineering, they broke down the acceptances by in-state, out-of-state, and international. We were lagging on out of state, so in early April we made 400 or so extra offers, and I assume those were to out-of-state students. So, basically a long winded way of saying, "I don't have anything to add" other than good luck.
