There's an app I've been using that may interest you

"Explore Here" - it's got a map of every one (I assume) of those little historical markers that tell you fun little facts about the place you're standing. Click on any of them and it'll usually bring up pics of the marker itself as well as the surrounding area, and it'll give you the text on the marker as well. So you can explore to your heart's content from your living room. Not nearly as interesting, of course, but it's a good way to catch the markers you may not have known were there, or to find places you want to visit that you hadn't known about before.
