Echoing other comments on SUNY Buffalo. Very good for certain majors

One son-in-law went there. He was an applied math and econ dual major and got a great education. Just wasn't thrilled with campus life. This was about 10 years ago.The winters are occasionally snowy but not as brutal as McGill where 1 of my kids went.
