Hit it with that foaming bee killer about 30 minutes after sunset.

All of the Yellowjackets should be back in the nest by then. Spray the entire can down the hole, then head back inside for the night. That should kill all of them. If you want to be doubly sure, the next morning you should squirt Dawn dishwashing liquid into the hole. Next put your garden hose into the hole and flood the tunnels with foaming (bee) dishwashing soap terror. That should eliminate any that may have survived. I've never seen any that survived the next morning, but I did the Dawn application anyway.
