It was a given that Cadillac was going to have to be an engine customer upon their entry. When Honda said they were leaving the sport and Red Bull created their own engine company, they asked Honda to stay on a couple more years while RB worked on their engine program. Even reverse engineering the Honda engine was expected to take time. Regardless, I'm happy to see an American automaker in F1 now.
