Music - Maison (Frenchman St.): They had an "open mic" night when we went where anyone, and I mean anyone, could get up and join in the gig. It was very interesting and entertaining. Most of the folks playing of course were musicians of one type or another, but the revolving door of folks playing made it a very freeform event. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't guarantee it will be like that every night. They typically have gigs lined up and don't know if they have that format anymore. Oysters - Dragos @ Hilton Riverside. I'm not an oyster guy, but their charbroiled oysters were fabulous!!! Nice ambiance. Restauraunt - Clancey's (West Bank). Best turtle soup in NO. Menu can change regularly. Often get a lot of famous people dining there. I had lamb chops last time, best I ever had. Pricey. Chartres House - Typical NO fare, favorite is the Taste Of New Orleans (gumbo, etouffee, red beans and rice, jambalaya) Bar - Old Absinthe House. Unique vibe, unique drinks. Favorite low key spot on Bourbon (as low key goes on Bourbon) Activities: -St. Charles Ave. Streetcar. Ride it all the way out from the Quarter to the end of the line in the Garden District (Canal Street and Carondelet Street). Grab a daiquiri at New Orleans Original Daiquiris and walk down to the waterfront and watch the traffic on the water. Ride back. -Ghost tour. This was one of the more fascinating things we did. Took us to several "haunted" locations around the Quarter. Lots of history. Hitting a bar between each stop was a nice perk. Don't recall who we used as I didn't put it together. Sure you can research a reputable tour guide.
