It's a really weird beast imho. Like a business convention or something

Can't put my finger on it. Once, SBs were right after the holiday season, even a one week extension of the holiday season, it was part of last year and had kind of an immediacy to it, this is it guys. Now, it's in mid February, kind of a spring...pre-spring...lunar new year? unofficial (who decides official anyway?) and it just feels like two lottery winners. Add the slightly over-the-hill entertainers, the whole thing with the ads which is what makes me thing of it as a business convention, all these companies kicking off their 2024 marketing strategies. And of course it's a stale product after you've done it 57 times, sort of like James Bond films, what can really be new? But again, it's this weird non-official something to do holiday/know what food to bring in the middle of February event.

Anything on a neutral field or court is more stale

The corporate crowd is what really kills it for me.

And there's no reason to change. $7 million for a 30-second commercial.
great2bahokie 02/12/24 09:27 AM ET
They SELL the spots every year. That is reason enough to charge that much**

Sort of like just having some former athletes in beer commercials...

the halftime show is like when a band opens for SNL- or used to -
bigbadbird 02/12/24 08:52 AM ET
Agree, but I don't recall the halftime show ever being good.
HokieNoVA 02/12/24 08:37 AM ET
I'm sorry but I have seen some Halftime shows that were legendary.
