Not yet, but we may be in a similar situation in about 6 years.
Depending on what career my daughter decides she wants to pursue, it's very likely I won't encourage her to pursue admission to VT. With the current cost of a 4-year degree, I think it's very likely we will suggest that she start out at a local community college to get through her prerequisite classes and then seek to transfer somewhere once she's narrowed down what she wants to do.
Best of luck to your son as he navigates his decision about what's next on his journey. I think it's great that you're not trying to force him to recreate your college experience.
