Some Counties may have a specific code on the construction details. In my

County I had to have a shed with a ridge beam at the peak of the roof, a minumum floor thickness of 23/32", hurricane tie downs on the corner, and probably a few more that I can't recall. No big deal since I had it built to the specs. I did not need a permit, but if the County snooped around and my shed was not built to County specs they could force me to remove it. It cost an extra few hundred dollars to meet spec, so I did. (Henrico County, Va)
