Howle? New poster here.
Long timw intermittent and occasional reader and Hokie who moved back to the USA one week ago from Vladivostok, Russia, after 20 years. Last time I posted on this Board was around 2004. Things were good then for Hokie football. We've had the recent rough times again, but are taking the steps (monetarily) and with a solid HC and DC hire that I like. Recruiting looks closer to 2005 or 2007 right now more than it has at any time since then. But, I'm not digging the OC hire too much. I must admit, I know little about him, but dont get the best initial vibe. Maybe I have PTSD over the Loughler/later Stiney years with that whole situation, but Im curious as to what fellow Hokies think of our new OC? Hokie Hi!

Welcome back! You aren't going to get off easy: what have you been doing
these past 20 years? Shacking up with a beautiful Russian beauty? I would post a pic, but some of us still can't do that for some reason. We all have Stymie PTSD, but Hokie Nation is moving forward, some of us kicking & screaming :-) !

Futility on offense has been the norm for so long, the PTSD is real...
I honestly can't think of another major program that makes offense so resemble string theory. The "forward pass" is graduate level physics it seems. All most Hokies want for Christmas is a #$%^&* offense, all the other cool kids have one. It's understandable that with the new budget we thought was in place for assistants, we would be seeing a bona fide offensive assassin announced as OC. Instead we get a second helping of a former PSU co/oc named "Ty" that has zero awesome offenses recorded on his cv. It tastes like week old Thanksgiving leftovers. He's a great TE end coach apparently, which is a position that has been treated as one step above water boy since you and Jeff King left town 20 years ago, so he's got that going for him. Franklin's no dummy, so we have to trust his decisions, but man we wanted a name brand OC for once, and not "Equate". When he struggles, the criticism of the hire will be withering. ** Edited by Techsupport at 12/10/2025, 10:44:44 AM

Welcome back to TSL and stateside.
I don't know the new OC. Never heard of him. But I give James Franklin the benefit of the doubt here on hiring his inaugural staff.
