Speaking of “TECH”…who was the 1st?
Noticed that both Tx tech & ga tech trying to emphasize just the word “TECH” on uni’s or helmets…yet both of them are founded later than VT.

used commonly alongside VPI for a long time. The Corps has been officially called the "VIRGINIA TECH Corps of Cadets" for a very long time. When the change to VPI&SU was made the university tried to suppress "VPI" branding, yet "VPI" appears on the top of the cadets' hat gromets to this day.

And it was always Virginia Tech, concurrent w/ the more formal … as it is today.

I was class of 53 and all I heard was VPI. That being said, I did have a WOOL wall hanging that said Va Tech.

I’ve decided that since they discontinued use long ago, plus, it was informally used, I am disqualifying MIT.
Another cousin’s daughter just started mit this year on soccer team, but they get no points towards the issues. Plus he’s a Tar Heel which further DQ’s their family as qualified participants in this “Tech” competition.

I did a little research on GT. They are still officially Georgia Institute of Technology. Wonder if they were ever called GIT?

Years ago I worked with a still longtime friend who always claimed his alma mater GT was the real Tech 🤣

Most schools reflect their founding dates all the way back to preceding organizations …of course, our Tech Did not take full advantage of what I think should have been an1854 founding date!
Every little tidbit that we can toot our horns about helps…
For sure, we must have been the very 1st “Olin”!!🤔😉🤣
