Expanding the playoffs has just lead to more blowouts.
I know people were hoping for more Cinderella's, but the talent difference between the top 4-5 teams and the rest is too much. About to turn this off an go for a hike with the dogs.

Lead to more money too.
8 teams is all you need for a meaningful playoff but they went for rhe money.

Short term it may be. Long term, increased access will help parity
More teams who make playoff = more selling tools & $ for recruiting & NIL Will take some time for the 12 team effect to trickle down to make teams 7-15 more competitive with top 6 or so

Going from 4 to 12 is a quantum leap. Probably only 6 teams this year
capable of winning it all. Anyone hoping for Cinderellas is going to be sorely disappointed. Football and basketball can't be compared.

It's the first year so it's far too early to draw any conclusions. That
said I imagine they will look at tweaking things in the off season. The auto byes for conference champions kind of messes up the seeding. Maybe keep the auto bids, base the byes on rankings and then after the top 4 any conference champions are next which would ensure a home game for the first round? Or it could just be a result of some weaker than usual conference champions this year.

This is a sample size of 1 year, with some exceptions...
1. Home teams dominated, especially in the cold weather. 2. Sometimes these things happen, but let's not forget that even these top 4 teams lost or struggled against some bad teams during the year. 3. Boise State and SMU games were statistically close, but turnovers, penalties and mistakes created a larger score discrepancy than the stats. I think the format is great, but let's not knee-jerk reaction off a handful of games. ** Edited by jesuisvtguy at 1/1/2025, 1:53:49 PM

Sounds like a great idea, I’ll do the same 👍🏼
What it all comes down to is more games for people to make money. Each game generates enormous amounts of spending.

And on line gambling...
Which don't kid yourself, is driving a lot ofvthis. They really don't care about the spending by teams fans. That's just gravy..
