That is truly sad. I never followed

his career much at Tech, but as a 9 year old in 1978 I remember hearing his name called out by Bill Meade on WGAT on a continual basis, as his Southampton team beat (thrashed would be a better word) my Blue Devils 56-6. The only highlight we had was a blocked punt and score, which allowed Gale Bellamy to sound off his coal powered Big Blue Cannonball, which he hauled hundreds of miles down and back.
