and we talked briefly at the 7/11. He is a great family man. One note: in January, 1982, I walked into After Sundown, a disco where the old Tech Bookstore was located. It was Thursday night, ladies nite. I walked from my dorm to After Scum down, and anticipated the normal flood of freshmen ladies. I saw Cyrus on the dance floor and raised my fist- CYRUS (similar to Animal House moment by the way)- he continued to dance with this hot chick, who was a good dancer- light blue feel me sweater, tight pants. Anyway, after they were done dancing to Earth Wind and Fire, I went up and asked her to dance. We've been married for 36 years to this day. I loved Cyrus, he was a real warrior on the field, and a gentleman off the field, soft spoken, and very humble. My county, Isle of Wight County is next to Southampton, and I remember watching him play- he was a legend back then. I played for IOW Academy and he played at Southampton same time frame. We were in awe of Cyrus, and I am deeply saddened to hear of this. May God Bless Cyrus Lawrence and his family.
