Really, maybe too many OVs is not a good thing?
Trying to compare VTs having 90 scheduled OVs to UVa’s 14 or to PSU’s 40 but VT’s # is out of sight. Dug deeper into just the ACC and only Florida State comes remotely close with 66 OVs. Most of the schools are in the 30-45 OV range.
I’m left with a couple thoughts. Say the Miamis' knows they can have the pick of the litter and take fewer OVs because they’re gonna get what they want nearly regardless. Or maybe a philosophy is you can make OVs more personal with fewer and create the ‘close' through the personal touch.
I think there’s something to be said for the first of the alternatives. Just scanning Miami’s OV listing there’s some heavy talent there and if they get any substantial closing %, they’re gonna be just fine. But absent the gravitas of an SEC, BIG or other biggee, well, that would seem to suggest the need to see a bunch of potential recruits.
66 at FSU, yeah big. But 90 at VT, well, that’s a feeding frenzy. Not as many 4 stars but plenty of high 3s and solid 4s. And when you get that many in one place, the energy feeds on itself IMO; I don’t believe you get that level of excitement with only 2 or 3 guys or even 8 or 10 in for a weekend.
I like the big numbers.

Seems like a good strategy to stretch NIL money and avoid bidding wars.

You must not be familiar with his game. It’s disputed that he can recruit **
