I did a comparison of OOC games against conferences and there were a few surprises. This data is from 2015-2025 seasons. I filtered out the 2020 season since it was so abnormal and inconsistent. The ACC as a whole plays a lot more P5 schools OOC compared to others. Positive check for the ACC. The SEC and BIG as a whole play a lot more G5 schools OOC. Negative check for them. But the narrative we hear is that their conference games are harder so it's ok for them to play an easier OOC schedule. So what would you prefer for VT? Easier OOC games with harder/more interesting conference games? (current SEC/BIG setup) Harder/more interesting OOC games with easier conference games?
