Virginia Tech football players playing in games in January The Hokies finished with a 3-9 record and three wins shy of bowl eligibility this year, but some former Hokies will get a chance to play in All-Star Games. Quarterback Kyron Drones will play in the 2026 Hula Bowl All-Star Game on Jan. 11 at noon. Offensive lineman Tomas Rimac followed his offensive line coach at West Virginia, Matt Moore, to Virginia Tech in the portal last winter and was a big part of the Hokies' line in 2025. He will be playing in the 2026 American Bowl on Jan. 22.
