Just look at Virginia. They were ranked near the top 10 in amount of money available for the portal and then had a couple of large donors pony up even more for football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball. Look at how improved their football program is; you likely will see similar results in both basketball programs. On top of that, they have recently built first class, state of the art, facilities to support their student athletes. Sadly, we simply don’t have the large donors like Virginia (or apparently Stanford). I agree that it is sad what has happened to college sports.
