Nice holiday gift from my company
About 5.5 years ago I started working for a small company that had great pay, great benefits, and interesting work. A couple years later that small company was bought by a medium sized company owned by a VT alum as the linchpin for selling to an even bigger fish. That first transition was fairly smooth, and our benefits were grandfathered in. The medium sized company was bought by that big fish, but it's a big fish that was trying to acquire a successful organization working in an area where they have abjectly failed over the years. In the following years, instead of trying to understand the successful business model, the new company has been imposing what didn't work in the past on the more successful organization. Also included is losing 5 PTO days, schedule flexibility reduced, paying much more for medical insurance, and loss of a third of 401k matching. Now one year in they tell us they are taking away ALL schedule flexibility. I'm 59, a very high level Subject Matter Expert, and just want to do my thing and make the customer happy. Customer ONLY cares about deliverables done in time with required quality, which is what they are getting. All I need is 6 more years of giving the customer exactly what they want and to be left the F alone. Looks like I'm doing that somewhere else.
