Help me understand. Why would either the SEC or Big10 take another school?

At this point both conferences have what they want. They are making a lot more than the ACC who is 3rd in VT revenue and playoff money. They have made sure, without picking them apart like they did to the PAC10, that the ACC and Big12 stay as nothing more than little brothers. The SEC makes $11 mil more per school than the ACC and the Big10 makes $20mil more per school than the ACC, in TV revenue. Both the SEC and Big 10 have a playoff deal that gets them around $8 more per school than the ACC. What properties are left, in any conference, that would change these numbers for either the SEC or Big 10? Notre Dame? Unless the SEC and Big 10 want to dismantle the NCAA why would they add more schools?

I think they are done until the next swarm of growth is required

Because explosive organic growth is over, consolidation through M&A next**

It’s actually pretty simple. P2 currently only covers half the country
HokieAl 03/27/24 08:49 PM ET
You’re forgetting that they’re also competing with each other

They are better off waiting for the desperation to be at peak level**

Notre Dame, Clemson, and FSU would all be TV draws.

The B10 has an inferiority complex wrt the SEC.
Truthahn 03/28/24 01:42 PM ET
lol. That doesn’t make a bit of sense. **

Why?
Pride_and_Joy 03/28/24 03:52 PM ET
yeah, nobody is leaving the Big Ten by choice.**
reestuart 03/29/24 02:51 PM ET
It is about markets
Hokie1992 03/27/24 10:43 PM ET
That’s what I said. Viewership and geography. **
Pride_and_Joy 03/27/24 11:31 PM ET
That is Virginia Techs problem

If not for the GOR,

I agree
Hokie1992 03/28/24 07:46 AM ET
Yeah, I was assuming they would compete for the markets
Pride_and_Joy 03/28/24 07:51 AM ET
That’s where the six hour radius matters

If it means more money for them, why not?**
VTFan29 03/27/24 05:08 PM ET
But it doesn't
Seikoh_04 03/27/24 06:38 PM ET
I wouldn't say so. There are untapped TV markets those conferences
VTFan29 03/27/24 07:56 PM ET
Those untapped markets aren't making the ACC enough money**
Seikoh_04 03/27/24 08:05 PM ET
Or the ACC doesn't know what it has and agreed to a contract that

The Big Ten has 3 OTA networks, FS1, FS2, and the BTN. They have plenty

The SEC has two OTA networks, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN News, and the SECN

SEC only has ABC now. Big Ten has Fox, NBC, and CBS. Everything else

The ACC has the WB and ABC
EDGEMAN 03/28/24 09:45 AM ET
Didn't know they lost CBS
EDGEMAN 03/28/24 09:18 AM ET
Yep. That's what VT and ACC fans should fear. They aren't getting primo
