Some would say it's all a dice roll...

It is, kind of. But, when you get higher ranked recruits, you get more rolls, or better rolling chances. Let's say a recruit gets to count their star rating or lower, when rolling. (In this experiment, there are no 6 Star recruits, so that is always a washout number.) If a 5 Star recruit rolls a 5 or lower, that is a success. If a 6 is rolled, a washout, as indicated before. If a 4 Star recruit rolls a 4 or lower, that is a success. If a 6 or a 5 is rolled, a washout. Etc. Yes, there are exceptions. But, I can't for the life of me, understand why anyone basically denies that odds exist. Yes, you can count plenty of example of 5 Star washouts, and unranked standouts. On balance, unless you have some specific reason to deviate, get the best odds you can. Especially now, when unearthing an underrated player, is getting even more difficult. Unlike dice, it is true, that measuring odds of success are tricker, and less reliable, than the never changing odds on a die. But, companies and other entities, spend advertising dollars, for a reason. On balance, it works. Same for getting high ranked recruits. On balance, it works. As pointed out by Hate2SeeItEnd Hokie in this thread, we need look no further than the last 40 or so National Champions, and their recruiting history, to see how important getting a top notch recruiting class is.

Very interesting. It proves that most players can improve if coached**

That's a good point. Coaching plays a role.

What's bs is the concept of "contributor"...

I'm a Tech fan so I'd still keep Tech's contributors. Go away troll!

I'm always downplaying recruiting and that doesn't work for some people.
