Yes, I know both games were scheduled as a 1 time game. My point about the

USC game is that it probably could have turned into a home-home series if JW was open to pursuing it. A home-home series should have meant more money in VT's pockets and more exposure for the program given where both programs were ranked at the time and ESPN's opinion of both programs at the time. WRT the Boise State, I believe the TSL article talking about the announcement of the game indicated the game was originally scheduled to take place the weekend prior to the Thursday night game vs. GT. Since VT was going to have to play someone on short notice, JW decided JMU was the lesser of 2 evils.
