That isn't an unreasonable expectation. However, Franklin's record

against the Top 10 is worse than Beamer's record. At least I assume the "cream of the crop in the SEC" would likely be ranked in the Top 10 in the preseason poll. It is possible both could end up being true; VT gets better each year and still is unable to win a perceived 50% of the marquee games. Even though 'Bama benefitted from its loss in the CCG, I wouldn't expect VT to start seeing any of that benefit until people's perception of the program changes.
