Correct, the stadium is absolutely horrible.

But if it's a town full of retirees from the northeast, will they be interested in college football? New York and Boston don't seem to care much about that sport. Same thing in Miami. They don't go to Marlins games. And they don't go to Miami Hurricane football games either. The northern Florida cities are less touristy/retiree, and probably more like Georgians (Tallahassee and Gainesville).
