Just FYI: The initial impetus for that "compactness" goes all the way back

to the '80s, when Warren Kark was the university architect. He originated the idea of "infill building" to take advantage of Tech's steam tunnel infrastructure as it would reduce the lengths of new tunnel construction. I'm not sure if Tech's newer buildings on the far side of campus use stand-alone HVAC systems?
