I have to assume he's got a good bit of disappointment, and there's also

almost no chance they end up staying in Blacksburg. I imagine he had planned to stay in the area for quite a while. I'm sure he did the best job he could. Unfortunately, he wasn't very good at it. Money definitely helps, but to think they can't feel a certain way because of it is pretty short sighted. Nobody needs to feel sorry for the guy or even his family. There is no reason not to have any empathy toward them.
