rule. Yes, the rules were illegal, but it was good for fans, and they miss it. Both things can be true at the same time. College football was fun because fans could feel like we were a part of it, and there was a unique relationship between players, schools, students, and alumni. We watched players grow from teenagers to professionals. VT would offer at risk and see the reward pay off for everyone (just not a monetary reward for the player at the time). There's a reason families like the Edmunds brothers kept sending their kids here. Virginia Tech was a part of their family. That just doesn't exist like it used to, so college football has lost a lot of its appeal for many. Money has changed the way it works...it has removed some of the loyalty and camaraderie. Some of that camaraderie wasn't real, as it was forced by unlawful NCAA restrictions, but much of it wasn't. The NCAA didn't force Marcus Vick to follow his brother. In the days of NIL, I doubt Marcus would have made the same choice. BTW, I'm not saying the NIL decision was wrong. It's capitalism, and I'm on board. I just also like college football less as a result. Both things are true.
