Not if all 11 co-owners don't agree to it. The only rule change that is

coming is any where all 11 co-owners approve it. End of discussion. No one, who wants to either limit the Gs to only 1 bid or get them out of the FBS Playoffs entirely, has provided any sort of plausible reason why a co-owner would agree to do something that is clear to everyone isn't in the owner's best interest and more importantly likely violates antitrust laws. If people really want to see the change occur, then they have to overcome those 2 obstacles. Otherwise, it is nothing more than wishful thinking on their part. As far as whether this year was a fluke or not, no one knows because this was only the second year of the 12-team playoffs. If you want to believe it is a fluke, then you believed a fluke happened 50% of the time (1 out of 2 times). I on the other hand will wait a few more years after more data has been collected before reaching any sort of conclusion. Particularly since there will probably be a lot more changes in the future which could directly impact the conclusion.

Who said anything about limiting them to 1?
crazylane 12/21/25 03:31 PM ET
Change from 12 to 16 teams can only occur if all 11 co-owners agree to it.
