We look at more than just the split

I agree with you that the split of D1 in the late 70s helped to kill the rivalry, but we argue that the rivalry started to die even earlier than that with looks at the end of the game being played in Roanoke, the introduction of a civilian male student body in the mid-60s, and other factors.
