I think there are minimum standards, if you want to call it that

To be a top 25 program consistently, you have to have certain things. Yes, NIL ultimately dilutes some of that, but you still have to keep up appearances with top quality facilities. Basically, you can't have obviously omissions that make you look like a less serious contender as a program. I'm not saying waterfalls, koi ponds, barber shops, lazy rivers, etc. But functional items like LED lighting in the stadium, top tier weight room, upgraded practice spaces, an up to date locker room, technology and top tier visual presentation throughout. The NFL is different. You get to draft players, have a CBA and, for free agency, length of contract and financial guarantees come in to play. There are also only 32 competitors for a players services. For college football, there are 4x as many options and it's the wild west. This might be a horrible analogy but if a tech firm in the business world pays the highest salaries, they still can't have a sub par office or amenities. You still have to look and feel like a top firm.
