From my perch, experience is all I have to judge by. Given the hiring disadvantages of.... a) Virginia Tech fallen a long way on the prestige totem pole and b) Pry very likely coaching for his job in 2025 ...then I don't think you can say anything other than Montgomery is (on paper) a walk-off homerun hire. With stints at traditional offensive juggernauts like Houston, Baylor, and Tulsa, along with many years head coaching experience, I honestly don't know we could have asked for a better hire. I was very surprised we could attract someone like this. I was expecting a son-of-Stiney type hire. On the D side of the ball, I'm not all that impressed, and to an equal and opposite extent to Montgomery, I was surprised we didn't do a little better. Again, this could be the Siefkes coming out party, and he just needs a chance, but based on DC experience alone, ....similar to Marve....I don't really see much.
