$8 mil a year for a 29-22 coach. This sport has too much money

His best conference finish is 5-3 His best overall finish is 9-4 He is 1-2 in bowl games Yes he seems to be recruiting well, but the overall results don't seem worth $8 mil a year. But if that's what they want to spend their money on, good for Shane.

He should send a big donation to his Alma mater. **

His temper tantrum during/after bowl game must have iced the deal

Wasn’t he SEC coach of the year? Plus he’s won more games in his first 4
Hokie`79 01/24/25 07:20 PM ET
Yes. He was the AP’s 2024 SEC Coach of the Year. **

Don't seem worth 8 mil to you, it is a very free market right now and
vtox1 01/24/25 04:09 PM ET
Feel like he's going to be the SEC's Jeff Fisher. Never great or terrible.**

Once Shane has two back to back 7 win seasons, it will all be over at USC.
jonnyhawk 01/24/25 12:51 PM ET
Shane doesn't want any part of the VT job. He's smarter than that.**
great2bahokie 01/24/25 01:47 PM ET
He has life time financial security with that buyout
tallahasseehokie 01/24/25 03:03 PM ET
If things went south at USC, coming to VT would look pretty good.
jonnyhawk 01/24/25 02:50 PM ET
He's been to the big city and won't be coming home
tallahasseehokie 01/24/25 03:06 PM ET
I don't think we'll see him here anytime soon

Impressed by the job Shane has done in Columbia. I was never a "Shane guy".

With that line of thinking every coach should be going to the ACC and Big12

Because VT is probably 10 years away from being able to pay out HC 8 mil/yr**
ChrisLords 01/24/25 03:01 PM ET
And at this rate that's what a top OC or DC will be making, with players
