It IS a fluke, that's why it's a major story in the first place

Every single year, across all NCAA divisions, across all sports, there's dozens of new head coaches. If it were commonplace to be undefeated for the first 75% of your sports season the year after firing your coach, everyone would be firing their coach all the time. Why ever retain a coach who didn't start 9-0 in football, or 21-0 in basketball, just fire them and get the next coach to do it
